What is going on?!

Barack Obama said that his economic philosophy is to "spread the wealth around."

Ok seriously, I can't even go into why this philosophy is dangerous and against everything we were founded on.

I just don't have it in me tonight. But I will add this:

"Your new tax plan is going to tax me more, isn't it?" the plumber asked, complaining that he was being taxed "more and more for fulfilling the American dream."

"It's not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they've got a chance for success too," Obama responded. "My attitude is that if the economy's good for folks from the bottom up, it's gonna be good for everybody ... I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody." When are we going to wake up and see what is happening to our country!? Frankly we can thank Pres. Bush and Congress for helping get us used to this before we actually jump head first into a Socialist society and hand all our freedom over to the government.

Obama says, "It's not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they've got a chance for success too." That's great but not at my expense without my permission - that's robbery!!

Pursuit of happiness. Sound familiar?! PURSUIT not GUARANTEE!!! Are we losing our minds!

I had to watch the video to see that he actually SAID it. Socialist much?

BTW - thanks for the message. I was in radiology when you left it. The "Happy birthday" CRACKED ME UP.

If nothing else mattered, this has to raise SERIOUS concerns with reasonable voters who are leaning towards Obama.

What a lousy election. But we deserve it.

For me, a call to arms so to speak. Election day is not the end for our ministry. It is the beginning and this proves why. WE control who we end up with for choices for each elected office. BUT it starts early and most people don't make their voice heard or vote count early on (primaries, etc). This must change.

Keep an eye out for a great post coming soon on the CCM blog!!

I think I should say here, that money does not equal happiness. When I read in the news that over 50% of Americans make less than $32,000 a year, I could hardly believe it. I do believe that ALL the good folks in this country who go to work should be able to earn a living wage that affords them the ability to have a place to live (not necessarily home ownership) and buy food every month. Until the minimum wage is a living wage, that will never happen for a lot of hard working folks. Socialist, I think we have a long way to go before that happens. Narrowing the growing gap between the rich and poor needs to happen NOW. And Obama's tax cut for average workers (those making less that $250,000) could help somewhat. Continuing to reward only the wealthiest with more money only perpetuates a cycle of greed and creates a greater disparity between the rich and poor. To whom much is given much is expected.

I should have been more specific here: And Obama's tax cut or NO INCREASE for average workers (those making less that $250,000) could help somewhat.

Just wanted to clarify.

Lesley, I agree with you on the living wage issue... My heart hurts for those who are trying to raise families on a salary that i can't even fathom.

My fear isn't necessarily for those making less than $250,000, though. My fear is for those OVER that mark. I don't make anywhere near that, but think... what about small business owners? What about people who educated themselves and worked their tushies off to get where they are? Is it fair to "spread the wealth around" by INCREASING taxes on them, to help fund systems that give money to those who earn less per year?

My fear is that Obama will take those that make a certain amount of money, tax them until they bring home less than an average person, then throw money into a failing Welfare system... or somewhere where we don't know exactly where the money is going anyway!

Spread the wealth around... it just sounds like he's saying, "Person A worked hard for his money. Person B didn't. Give Person B Person A's money. Make it "FAIR"..."

I wanted to share with you, too... I just watched the speeches by "the guys" at the Alfred E. Smith Memorial Dinner tonight... ahem--not speeches... roasts. VERY funny. :)

Yep, I was thinking about posting them...

I have to say that I don't think Sen. Obama is able to sincerely laugh at himself. While Sen. McCain spoke he didn't seem as amused as I would have liked. I appreciate anyone who can really laugh at themselves.

I'm sure some will think that is just my bias speaking. Could be I guess.

My favorite obama joke was that his middle name was "Steve."

Barak Steve Obama. Yep.

I thought McCain was better at delivering his one-liners... Obama was a little shaky. But they both had some good jabs in there.

I've never watched that before... it was nice to see them make fun of themselves and each other, at least a little.

I always enjoy watching those types of events...if you can't laugh at yourself I question your ability to lead humbly.

"Steve" was funny...wonder how my dad feels about that?!

One Last Thought From Me

Why not remember this act of love and sacrifice daily rather than just at Easter? Yes, this event is an indescribably joyous one because Jesus did rise from the dead but we should never forget how and why He suffered unimaginably before defeating Death and Hell itself on our behalf. He did so while thinking of you and me. In doing so he personally took on our sin, our pain and a debt we could not pay in order to provide a way to complete forgiveness and redemption. The truth is, either way death is not the end and being a “good person” isn’t a substitution for being truly forgiven.

God tells us that by simply believing Jesus rose from the dead, confessing and turning away from our sin and making the Bible the true foundation of our life, we will be forgiven for our sins and live eternally in Heaven.

As you may know, I am far from perfect and if you have doubts about that I’m sure you can find a multitude of people who can confirm that. I have made countless mistakes and bad judgments and will again in the future despite my best intentions. It is because of this that I am exceedingly thankful I can go directly to God and ask for help, ask for forgiveness and know that God's mercy is new every morning as I continually work to keep my foundation on God's Word. Truly accepting God's love, mercy and a true freedom offered in a life firmly anchored in His Word is something there simply aren't words to describe.

I have to admit that I regularly take that for granted and listening to the words in a song like “Via Dolorosa” is one way to help remind me of the sacrifice Jesus made on that cross. Deciding to live for Christ was without a doubt the best decision I made in my life. Don’t get me wrong, it didn’t solve all my problems and make my life perfect. But I have a peace and hope only God can offer and I know in God’s eyes He sees a child forgiven rather than condemned. Now that I am a parent I can’t even begin to imagine what it must be like for God to watch His children exercise their free will when they chose to reject Him rather than embrace the salvation He offers each of us.

Regardless of your feelings on God and Jesus I hope you enjoy the power of the images and music I posted. And thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts about what can be a very sensitive issue.

Via Dolorosa (Latin for Sorrowful Road)
